I think Apple is finally taking real risks again. John Ternus is the new boss now. He took over from Tim Cook recently. You can already see the changes. He is shaking things up.
Look at the new hardware lineup. It is wild.
First up is the new foldable.
The iPhone Ultra Is Real
People waited a very long time for this. Apple is officially calling it the iPhone Ultra. It folds right down. Really small. About the size of an old mini model. It fits in your pocket super easy.
But there is a catch. Face ID is completely gone. The camera tech is just too thick for a folding screen.
So Touch ID is back. It lives inside the power button now. Honestly I prefer that anyway. It works fast. It works well.
Both new phones run on wild new silicon chips. These are new 2nm processors. Super small. Super fast. They save a lot of batteryy... I mean battery life. It makes a huge difference day to day.
Then we have the big boy.
iPhone 18 Pro Max Upgrades
The regular Pro is fine. But the Pro Max gets the really good stuff this year.
Apple gave it a massive battery upgrade. We are talking 5,567 mAh total. That is huge. You can probably go two days without a charge. That is a big deal for heavy users. Here at Klauzi we test web apps on phones all day long. We need that extra juice.
The camra is the other big thing.
Exclusive Camera Tech
It gets a physical mechanical variable aperture. The smaller Pro does not get this at all. Only the Max.
You can control the depth of field manually. It helps a lot in low light situations. The photos just look way better.
Apple clearly wants you to buy the most expensive model. They are pushing the Max very hard.
The prices might actually stay flat though. That is the current word on the street anyway.
We will see. I plan to grab the Ultra on day one. I am tired of the same old glass slabs. It feels like we are stuck in a rut. I love the idea of a real folding iPhone. It just feels fresh. We needed this update badly.
